This boxed set from Gollancz is a beautifully crafted work of art which contains all three volumes of the trilogy, namely The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged and Last Argument Of Kings. The first book in The First Law trilogy was brilliantly written and thoroughly enjoyable, however it is fair to say that not a lot happened. If I thought the first one was pretty good but wasn't entirely sold on the brillance of it, then picture me sold. At first glance, it looks nothing special. Just like The Blade Itself is the first novel, followed by Before They Are Hanged and Last Argument of Kings. Before They Are Hanged is Book 2 of The First Law Trilogy, this book continues where the cliffhanger in Book 1 left off and also ended in a cliffhanger. Abercrombie creates a story that grabs your throat right from the start and The only thing that bothered me about your review was that you did not mention the two strong female characters, Ferro and Ardee.
